Thoughts from a rocking chair

I have become old.
I am that person from my youth,
The one my parents knew.
I am an elder.
I do not hurry anymore.
I live my life at my pace,
And each day like there’s no tomorrow.
I live for this moment.
I do not worry anymore.
My days of stress are gone.
I have no deadlines,
Nor quotas to meet,
I answer only to me.
I am responsible for my own happiness.
I have loved and been loved,
I have laughed and given laughter.
I still have more to give.
I will look back at my life,
I will make amends if they need making.
I will let go of all regrets.
I cannot change the past
I do not worry anymore.
My days of stress are gone.
I have no deadlines,
Nor quotas to meet,
I answer only to me.
I do not worry anymore.
My days of stress are gone.
I have no deadlines,
Nor quotas to meet,
I answer only to me.
